Our SME team grew from a Cambridgeshire based company who provided an online accounting package to local companies. Today, we provide software applicable to companies across a range of industries. For example, we support local property managers who want to improve their customer relationships, we track the outsourced manufacturing of organic baby foods, and we help the National Farmers Co-operative pool their grain, and we ensure international music companies calculate royalties.

We react to people’s need for finance, ERP and CRM solutions. We also help businesses make use of Microsoft technologies in areas such as data analytics and the Internet of Things - connected, smart devices.

In 2016, we were excited to become a part of Columbus Global. Our core values and commitment to quality solutions and stand-out customer service remain as always, and we joined Columbus to help ambitious companies transform, maximize and future-proof their business digitally. Our love of technology provides real business benefit and is as evident now as it was in 1978, only now we use the Microsoft Cloud.

Our History

Columbus was founded

Columbus was founded in 1989. The company started out by offering shared computing services to local companies. The main focus was accounting software and the company advanced from there, by developing their own software to meet companies specific needs.

We became experts in NAV

In 1996 we took on Navision (now known as Dynamics NAV, or D365 Business Central), a Windows based accounting solution, which we still sell, implement and support today. We continue to deliver standard software and modified solutions to meet customers needs.

We started implementing Microsoft CRM

In 2005 we took on Microsoft CRM and started to implement and support Microsoft CRM solutions. We continue to deliver these solutions, now known as D365 Customer Engagement and D365 Sales and Marketing.

Columbus Global acquires Cambridge Online

2016 marked the year of integration and becoming stronger together. Cambridge Online was acquired by Columbus Global, which enabled true global presence and the access to more Dynamics resources worldwide. We still maintain our local presence through offices in Cambridge, Nottingham and Warrington, with a focus on solutions for mid sized businesses.

Business Central and CX Growth

Columbus expands its SME offerings with new investment in Microsoft Dynamics Customer Engagement and supporting solutions including Connective Field Service and Hololens Remote Assistance. Columbus was also one of the first partners to be Microsoft Business Central co-sell ready, demonstrating investment in helping SMEs make the shift to a unified cloud based business solution.
